Important Information About Your Rentals

On arrival you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the operators of Kangaroo Campervan Rentals. Here is a summary of their terms and conditions:
Definitions
The following definitions apply for the Terms and Conditions for Kangaroo Campervan Rentals.

  • The Supplier means the operator of Kangaroo Campervan Rentals.
  • The Client is also referred to as the hirer (s) or renter (s).

Payment Terms
* The initial deposit is collected upon confirmation of your booking and will be deducted from your nominated credit card. This amount is non-refundable.
* The balance amount is due upon arrival, when you collect your vehicle.
* A bond amount is payable to the supplier when you collect your vehicle. This amount is payable with or without the purchase of any excess reduction policy.
SPECIAL PAYMENT TERMS
The full amount (deposit and balance) will be collected upon confirmation if you choose to process your booking in a currency different to AUD.

Cancellation Policy
Your credit card will be charged the following amounts if you cancel or fail to pick up the vehicle.
 
Within 48hrs of booking date - no charges.
Within 3-7 days of booking date - 20% of rental charges.
Within 8 days after booking date up to 7 days prior to pick up date - 50% of rental charges.
Cancellations or amendments within 6 days of pick up date - 100% of rental cost.
 
There is no refund for late pick up or early return of vehicle.
 
Please note: Cancellations or amendments must be made strictly in writing via email to the booking agent.

Insurance
       * 1.  All drivers must have a current driver’s licence with appropriate class (manual or automatic) and be at least 21 years of age. If the driver is not on the contract or has no licence = NO INSURANCE

    * 2. For security/bond, a Credit Card is required and is authorized or taken for a minimum of either $1000.00 (+ 25 yrs) or $1500.00 (21-24 yrs). NO BOND= NO RENTAL -- NO CASH BONDS

    * 3. An insurance liability of $2750 is payable for each incident of damage. This liability may reduce:-
          Campervans – The basic liability can reduce to $500 - costs $10 per day

PLUS age liability of $500 for drivers 21 to 24 years old.

    * 4. Any damage caused in single vehicle accidents, while driving at night or accidents involving animals carries a liability ( deductible) of $3000.00 . This may not be waived.

    * 5. Even though insurance is paid, the vehicle is not insured in the following situations AND you will lose your bond:-
          If the vehicle is used on unsealed roads or off-shore islands.  --  LOSS OF BOND
         
          If the driver is under the influence of alcohol or drugs.  --  LOSS OF BOND
         
          If the damage is above the drivers head line, under the vehicle or caused while reversing .  --  YOU PAY FOR THE FULL COST OF REPAIR

     * 6. The renter is responsible for:
          All punctures, tyre damage, glass damage, and any items lost, stolen or mislaid off or out of the vehicle,
          Speeding fines – admin fee $100 applies. Parking or toll infringements admin fee of $66.00 applies
          Engine damage caused by low water or oil. CHECK DAILY.

    * 7. Compensation is NOT paid for time off road due to:
          Flat batteries,
          Tyre replacement,
          Routine maintenance
          or Unavoidable mechanical breakdown.

    * 8. No refunds or credits for early returns.

    * 9. You pay for the fuel you use. Any shortfall in fuel on return will result in a surcharge of at least $10.00 being added to the cost of the replacement fuel.

    * 10. The vehicle is to be returned in a clean condition otherwise a cleaning fee will be charged. (Minimum – All vehicles, exterior $75. Campervans interior $150 )

    * 11. Extensions of hire are to be advised at least 24 hours prior to termination of the original hire (subject to availability), or the vehicle will become uninsured. The police will be notified when 24 hours overdue.

    * 12. Road Service is charged at $55 per call out and is not available if you are more than 250 km from the East Coast.  Travel on the Burke and Gulf Developmental Roads is not permitted.

In the event of an accident or theft, it is the hirers responsibility to notify the police and the rental office.  A claim form must be completed within 24 hours. We will terminate your rental if you have an “at fault” or single vehicle accident or as a result of serious vehicle abuse. 

No replacement vehicle.   No refunds.

The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier’s rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.

While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.

Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice. The deposit required to secure your vehicle (as shown on the secure booking page) will only be processed on your credit card when your booking is confirmed. Please note that a 1.75% credit card charge will be added when your payment is processed.

A booking is confirmed when you have been emailed a confirmation voucher and at this stage the deposit is processed on your card and becomes non-refundable and any cancellation fees stated in the supplier's terms apply. Upon receipt of your confirmation, please check your details carefully and notify us immediately if there are any incorrect details, as it may not be possible to make changes at a later date.

If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

Information disclosure
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.

Amendments
Please note that some suppliers treat an amendment as a new booking and apply the rate current at the time the amendment is made to recalculate the entire booking amount (not just the days changed). If the rental period is increased, an additional deposit may be required. If the rental period is shortened which results in a reduction of the rental charges, the deposit amount will remain unchanged, and the difference between the original and revised deposit is forfeited (it cannot be used towards remaining rental charges). To request a change to a confirmed booking, please use the alterations request link on your confirmation. Any alterations are subject to availability and the approval of the supplier. In addition to the alteration policy of the supplier stated in their terms, the following charges will apply:
Motorhome rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency):
To change dates or times that result in a recalculation of rental rates, or to change vehicles or locations: 75.00
To add or remove extras to/from confirmed booking: 20.00
The alteration fee will not be charged if your alteration request is not possible.

Vehicle Capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.

Refund Policy
We are committed to providing a quality service and aim for complete customer satisfaction. In the event of cancellation, any refunds or penalties are detailed in the terms and conditions of your selected vehicle that you are asked to read and accept at time of booking. In the event you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.

Kangaroo Campervan Rentals Insurance

An insurance liability of $2750  is payable for each incident of damage.  This liability may be reduced but not removed completely.   An additional liability of $500  ($3250 in total) applies for drivers aged 21 to 24

Damage caused in single vehicle or animal accidents carries an excess of $3000.00 . This may not be waived.

Security Bond:
   21 - 24 years AUD $1000.00  -- 25 years +  AUD $500.00  
 
   Please note your bond will be deducted from your credit card. Upon return of your vehicle your bond will be returned providing
   the vehicle is in the same condition as originally hired.
   NO BOND =  NO RENTAL.  NO CASH BONDS accepted

Exceptions
Even though insurance is paid, the vehicle is not insured in the following situations:-
    *   If the vehicle is used on unsealed roads.
    *   If the driver is under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
    *   If the damage is above the drivers head line, underneath the vehicle or  caused while reversing .

Renter Responsibility 
The renter is responsible for:
    * All punctures, tyre damage, glass damage, and any items lost, stolen or mislaid off or out of the vehicle,
    * Parking fines and traffic violations. An administration fee of $66.00 applies to all unpaid traffic    violations.
    * Engine damage caused by low water or oil.  CHECK DAILY.

Vehicle restrictions:
Vehicles are not permitted to travel on dirt/gravel roads.
